Direct answer

The short answer

Preview a complete lesson before choosing an iPad Bible app. Check that your child can read the pages, understand the story and use the response tools. Look at what parents can see afterward, how lessons are chosen, and what the subscription includes. First Followers offers illustrated lessons, written and drawn responses, and parent reports, with optional screen-time rewards.

A screenshot can show a beautiful illustration. It takes a full lesson to show whether an app will fit your child. Before downloading a Bible app for an iPad your family already uses, walk through the experience from the child's first page to the parent's view afterward.

Read the whole lesson before judging the artwork

Look for the Scripture reference, the people and setting, and a complete telling of the passage. Check how the lesson explains unfamiliar words and difficult events. Choose an edition that suits your child's understanding and the topics you are ready to discuss.

Then look at the reading experience on the actual iPad. Is the text comfortable to read? Can the child follow the page order and find the next step? Can they stop and return without needing to remember where they were? Try the sample with your child nearby before deciding whether independent work is realistic.

Try the questions and response tools

Check what children do after reading. Choosing an answer, ordering events, writing and drawing ask for different kinds of work. A useful activity has a clear connection to the passage and instructions the child can understand.

Consider reading and motor needs. A child who enjoys explaining a drawing may find a long typed response tiring. Preview the actual task rather than assuming that every lesson offers every response tool. If your child needs help reading or understanding the controls, plan for an adult to be available.

Find out what the parent receives

A completion marker tells you that an activity ended. Actual responses give you something more specific to discuss. Check whether the parent can see the lesson and answers, and whether there is enough context to understand a mistake or an interesting thought.

In First Followers, parents choose lessons and can review submitted responses. Those responses can help you begin a conversation about the passage. They are a record of learning activity, not a score for a child's faith.

Check setup and subscription expectations

First Followers is available for iPhone and iPad. A parent account and internet connection are required for setup and new lesson downloads. The app's family subscription covers Bible courses, learning activities and parent tools; check the current plan and price before purchasing. The current lesson catalogue is in English, even when the interface uses another supported language.

You can use lessons and parent reports without enabling screen-time rewards. Rewards require a compatible child device, Apple Family Sharing and parent authorization. If that feature interests you, inspect its setup requirements and choose which apps and minutes suit your household.

For a paper-based starting point, use the free planner in your browser. It does not require the app or a subscription, and lets you explore readings and questions before choosing a different way to deliver lessons.
